Aberdeen Secure Dorrington Loan from Tottenham

Alfie Dorrington has rejoined Aberdeen on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the 2025-26 campaign, marking his return to Pittodrie after a successful initial spell.
The 20-year-old defender first arrived at Aberdeen in January 2025 and played a crucial role in the club's Scottish Cup triumph. Dorrington made 23 appearances for the Dons last season, including a starting position in the dramatic final against Celtic.
"My six months here last season were the best of my football career," Dorrington said. "Winning the cup, gaining valuable experience, and playing regularly made it an easy decision to return when Aberdeen came calling."
The young center-back particularly highlighted his excitement about playing in front of Aberdeen supporters again, "especially during those special European nights." The Dons will enter the Europa League at the play-off stage this season.
Manager's Perspective
Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin expressed his delight at securing Dorrington's return: "Alfie became an important squad member last season, and with our demanding schedule across multiple competitions, his presence strengthens our defensive options."
Thelin added: "It's always positive when a player demonstrates such commitment to the club. Alfie recognizes this as an excellent opportunity to develop at a high level in a supportive environment."
Season Outlook
Dorrington's return comes as Aberdeen prepare for their Scottish Premiership opener against Hearts on August 4. The club will be looking to build on last season's cup success while competing on both domestic and European fronts.
