Saints Condemn Racist Abuse Against Striker Oteh

The New Saints FC has reported an alleged racist incident involving striker Aramide Oteh following their Champions League qualifying defeat against KF Shkendija in North Macedonia.
Incident Details
Head coach Craig Harrison revealed that Oteh, a 26-year-old former English Football League player, was left in tears after being targeted by a home supporter. The incident occurred after Shkendija's 2-1 extra-time victory at the Tose Proeski Arena in Skopje, witnessed by 3,000 spectators.
Club Statement
The Welsh champions issued a strong statement condemning the alleged abuse: "The New Saints FC strongly and unequivocally condemn the racist abuse directed at Aramide Oteh. There is absolutely no place for racism - either in football or in society. Everyone at the club is offering their full support to Aramide."
The club emphasized their commitment to UEFA's #NoToRacism campaign, stating: "We remain committed to promoting equality, respect and inclusion both on and off the pitch."
Player Background
Oteh, who joined TNS in 2024, has previously played for several English clubs including:
- Queens Park Rangers
- Bradford City
- Stevenage
- Salford City
- Crawley Town
- Walsall
Coach's Reaction
Harrison expressed his outrage: "He is in tears - that doesn't happen for no reason. It's clearly what's been said and done. For a fan to speak to anybody like that is an absolute disgrace. We will be reporting that and hope the culprit gets fair punishment."
Next Steps
Shkendija has yet to comment but indicated they would consult security staff and witnesses. UEFA will review match reports before deciding on potential action.
The aggregate defeat (2-1 after a goalless first leg) means TNS will now enter Conference League qualifiers against Luxembourg's Differdange.
