Belgian Star De Keersmaecker Seals Oxford Move

Oxford United have secured the signing of Belgian midfielder Brian De Keersmaecker from Dutch Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old becomes manager Gary Rowett's first acquisition of the summer transfer window.

During his two-season stint with Heracles Almelo, De Keersmaecker made 64 league appearances and contributed 7 goals. His consistent performances in the Eredivisie have earned him this move to English football.

The Belgian international expressed his excitement about the transfer: "This represents a significant step in my professional development. I'm fully prepared for this new challenge - adapting to a new city and competing in one of football's most demanding leagues."

Describing his playing style, De Keersmaecker added: "I bring an aggressive approach to the game. Whenever we lose possession, my immediate instinct is to win it back. Fans can expect to see maximum effort from me in every match."

The midfielder concluded with ambitious words for Oxford supporters: "I'm committed to helping this club achieve greater success and can't wait to start contributing on the pitch."

Oxford United will begin their Championship campaign with a home fixture against Portsmouth on Saturday, 9 August, where De Keersmaecker could make his competitive debut.
